With the release of "Burst Protocol" (2026), the "Radiant Typhoon" archetype has evolved from a niche stun strategy into a robust mid-range contender. By leveraging the new Link Monster "Radiant Typhoon Varuroon, the Marine Eidolon" and the Quick-Play extender "Radiant Typhoon Ascendance", the deck now boasts consistent resource recursion and non-linear interaction. It continues to weaponize "Mystical Space Typhoon", transforming it from simple removal into a sophisticated engine starter.
Swen: The primary Normal Summon; searches Ascendance to begin the combo.
Ascendance: New Quick-Play from BPRO. Revives a monster or searches MST; loops itself when destroyed.
MST: The fuel. Triggers Mandate and destroys your own Ascendance for "free" advantage.
Varuroon, the Marine Eidolon: The new Link-2 centerpiece. It searches MST on summon, converts opponent's monsters into Continuous Spells (non-destruction removal), and places Mandate directly from Deck.
Varuroon, the Vibrant Vortex: Negates monster effects when Quick-Plays are used. Can destroy cards if you have 2+ MST in GY.
Radiant Typhoon Mandate: Continuous Trap. Negates opponent's cards whenever an MST is activated.
The standard play for the "Burst Protocol" era relies on opening Swen + any discard (or just Swen if going second).
Normal Summon Swen to search Radiant Typhoon Ascendance. Activate Ascendance to Special Summon a monster from GY (or search MST if you already have bodies), ensuring you have 2 monsters on field.
Link Summon Varuroon, the Marine Eidolon. Effect 1 adds MST from Deck/GY. Effect 3 triggers when you activate any Quick-Play Spell later.
Activate a Quick-Play Spell. Varuroon triggers to place Mandate face-up from Deck. You now have a live omni-negate (Mandate) triggered by your searched MST.
The new endboard focuses on the "MST Lock," using Mandate to negate key opponent plays.

While the Radiant Typhoon core remains untouched, the archetype's Heavily reliant on Ascendance for recursion and Varuroon (Link) for accessing the Mandate lock. means restrictions on generic support cards do have an impact.
Meta Implications: Despite restrictions on support cards, Radiant Typhoon's Shifted from stun to combo; can now play through interruption but struggles against banishment of key spells. allows the deck to remain viable with alternative tech choices.
